October 6 - Cub-A-Palooza Family Fun Day @ Camp Wisdom
Blackland Prairie's annual Family Fun Day where kids, siblings, and parents can experience all the activities scouting has to offer. District staff provides BB Guns and Archery and supplies for all activities. Boy Scout Troops may also host an activity for service hours and to recruit prospective Webelos scouts. Each attending Pack should have two adult volunteers to assist with hosting an activity. $20 per scout/$5 per sibling/Adult/Staff. More information here. CTX2 Work Day - Boy Scout Troops Invited Saturday Oct 6
Join us on Saturday, September 8 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm as we build and construct activities for the Cub Scout Midway at Circle Ten Xperience to be held on Saturday, November 10. Your cheerful service will DEFINITELY be appreciated! Scouts, Leaders, Parents, and Siblings are all welcome…we will put you to work!
Please wear old clothes that can get dirty and get paint on them (Restrooms are available to change clothes, if necessary). Optional supplies to bring include:
- Paint brushes: 1" to 3" in width
- Paint rollers
- Knee pads so you can paint kneeling on the pavement
- Cordless Electric drill/screw driver
We’ll provide saws, refreshments and other supplies...just bring yourself and be prepared to have fun! Scouts can also earn Service Hours!

October 12 - Scout Sleepover at ATT Stadium
Scouts along with their families and friends are invited to enjoy a fun filled night of games, activities, a movie, food and much more! Sleeping on the home field of the Dallas Cowboys is one of the most unique camping experiences that a scout could ever have! $55 per person in groups 20 or more. Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) - October 20th

SMU Scout Night - Friday, November 16th; SMU VS Memphis
Tickets only $15 per person and include:
- A reserved seat to the SMU vs. Memphis game on Friday, November 16
- Pregame high-five tunnel with players
- SMU patch
- Overnight campout on the field after the game

DEN CHIEF Training
October 13: 9am - noon
A Den Chief is a Boy Scout, Venturer or Sea Scout assisting a Cub Scout den. But the story is far more important than those words suggest as the Den Chief:
Serves as a Scouting role model for the Cub Scouts in the den, as well as the entire pack;
Promotes Scouting in general and the local troop in particular;
Encourages the transition of Webelos Scouts into Boy Scouting;
Holds a leadership position in the troop or crew, thus fulfilling an advancement requirement in the unit.

OAK LEAF Training
November 17 & 18th, 2018 @ Camp Wisdom
Oak Leaf Training is for any young scout who has earned their 1st Class rank. This training will help you understand the patrol method and ensure scout skills for success. As the first leadership training course for scout, it is a pre-requisite for National Youth Leadership Training which teaches leadership and team building skills to be a successful Patrol Leader. Taught by older Scouts, attendees will learn through doing tasks in the EDGE method and the stages of group development.

National Youth Leadership Training
Next session is coming up in December over winter break. This is THE PREMIER LEADERSHIP training for youth - the adult version is WoodBadge! Learn life skills that will help you succeed in scouting, at school, and work! For schedule and curriculum click here.
Blackland Prairie Girl Troop
Blackland Prairie will have at least ONE GIRL Troop and possibly more. If you are interested in joining a District wide girl troop and hit the ground running in February 2019, please let us know. In the meantime, come and meet other girls age 11 - 17 with their parent(s) at our next gathering.

Have you heard of Winterfest? It's the largest Exploring and Venturing event in the nation. Celebrating it's 45th year, over 3,500 participants attend from all over the US.
When: February 8-10, 2019
Where: Gatlinburg, Tennesse
Fee: Only $45 per scout (paid by January 11, 2019) -does not include travel, meals and lodging.

MANDATORY - REVISED Youth Protection Training Required by October 1st, 2018 for ALL ADULTS
Both the Boy Scouts of American and the State of Texas are committed to protecting our youth. As adult scouters we must be in full compliance with both groups. New requirements from National means that all registered adult scouters must take the updated on-line training by October 1, 2018. Please see the Quick Facts for more detailed information.
NEW - Hazardous Weather Training Required
The online Hazardous Weather Training module is required for direct contact leaders to be considered position trained. Safety is a big issue with Scouting and around here its Weather related! Go to my.scouting.org and take course SCO_800.

TRAIN-O-REE - Saturday October 13th - Morning or Afternoon Session
New Cub Leaders/Den Leaders - This is for you!
This day of training is for all NEW Cub Scout Leaders and existing Cub Scout Leaders who are taking on a new role. This is a great opportunity to take your Cub Leader Specific training and your Youth Protection Training all in one day and walk out the door "TRAINED". The trainings available are: All morning and afternoon sessions are the same training. 9:00 a.m. - Noon and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Cubmaster/Assistant Cubmaster Training - morning and afternoon sessions are available. Den Leader Specific Training - morning and afternoon sessions available. In-Person Youth Protection Training Noon - 1:30 p.m. Activities will be available for your Cub Scout and/or sibling (must be over the age of 3). Please use CampMaster to Register (FREE).
